On March 23, 2019, The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has issued a recruitment notification for the Indian Economic Service (IES) and Indian Statistical Service(ISS) Examination 2019. Link of online application form for the same has been activated in the official website upsc.gov.in/. Last date to apply online for the UPSC 2019 Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service Examination is April 16, 2019. UPSC IES, ISS 2019 Online examination would be conducted on Friday, June 28, 2019.

To clear IAS Exam, aspirants are advised to have a long-term strategy. Though most of the serious candidates start preparation 9-12 months before the exam date, there are candidates who successfully achieve top ranks with only a few months of dedicated study.

A good understanding of UPSC syllabus and exam pattern is the first step for all fresher.

The Civil Services Preliminary exam comprises of two compulsory papers of 200 marks each (General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper II). The questions will be of multiple choice, objective type. The marks in prelims will not be counted for final ranking, but just for qualification for the main exam.

A candidate’s rank in UPSC Civil Service Exam depends only on the mark scored in Main and Interview.

The written examination (main) will consist of the following nine papers, but only 7 papers will be counted for final merit ranking. For the rest two papers, the candidate should secure minimum marks prescribed by UPSC each year. The main exam has 1750 marks while interview has 275 marks.

The number of times a candidate can appear for the exam are given below.

General category candidates = 6

OBC category candidates = 9

SC/ST candidates = unlimited attempts till 37 years of age.

SBI, Silchar Felicitates Officer Serving in Assam Rifles

On  March 27, 2019, Capt Praveen KV, an officer serving under the Kadamtala battalion of Assam Rifles had gone to an SBI ATM located at Kashipur, Silchar to withdraw cash. While at the ATM, Capt Praveen observed cash in the collection tray of the ATM machine. He looked outside for anyone who might have forgotten to collect the cash. However, after waiting for some time, he called the SBI security manager and informed him about the incident and asked the procedure to return the money to the rightful owner. On 28 Mar 19, Capt Praveen approached the Main Branch of SBI at Silchar with all necessary documents and returned the money to the Branch Manager. Highly appreciating this act by the Assam Rifles officer, SBI staff felicitated him on 28 Mar 19.

60 Candidates File Nominations For 2nd Phase Lok Sabha Polls in Assam

60 candidates from Assam have filed nominations for five Lok Sabha seats which will go polling in the second phase.

The scrutiny is scheduled for today.

It may be noted that two of the nomination papers have been rejected and nomination of Lakhimpur Congress candidate has been put on hold till today due to technical reasons.
